|Rental Housing Support Program|
In partnership with the Illinois Housing Development Authority and the Kendall County Housing Authority we have created the Kendall-Grundy Rental Housing Support Program.
Rental Housing Program Overview
The Rental Housing Support Program is funded by the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) to provide rental assistance to households in Illinois. Similar to other housing programs, RHS subsidizes units across the state. Generally, landlords of participants in the RHS program receive the difference between 30 percent of the participant's household income and fair market rent from the RHS program. This permits participants to live in private housing, without the stigma that come from living in buildings identified as low income housing.
The program will not pay for things such as security deposits, emergency rental assistance, or other costs with housing. It will only cover rent.
IHDA contracted with us to manage the program in our area. We have found landlords to provide units for the program and will accept applications from potential tenants starting on July 10, 2008. Tenants who live in those units need to be low-income and cannot be receiving rental assistance from another source.
Am I eligible?
Tenants in the program must be at or below 30% of the Grundy county median income if they live in Grundy County. If tenants live in Kendall County, they must be at or below 30% of the Kendall County median income. Below we have listed a link for you to be able to download further explanation of the program, as well as an application. Please feel free to call the number included if you need additional information.
How do I apply?Due to overwhelming demand, the program is not currently able to take applications. Please check back to see if this status changes.
