As you can see, there are so many ways you can help the nearly 160 low income elderly and residents with disabilities at the Grundy County Housing Authority. In addition, or as an alternative to these suggestions, you can also join our efforts to continue Supporting Timely Affordable Responsible Shelter! We would love to have you on our team! We know once you see what we do you’ll be inspired to help! GCHA Sponsorship and Volunteer Opportunities Sponsor a resident Monetary monthly donations help with the needs of residents. Donation amount varies depending on sponsor. Sponsor an apartment Financial support and volunteers to rehab vacant apartments, preparing them for new residents, is vital. Name plaque outside of apartment displayed. $500-$1000 per apartment average cost. Teach a class Have a special talent you would like to share with the residents? Let’s set up a learning class! Sponsor weekly/monthly meals With tight budgets weekly/monthly meals are important. Feel free to order in pizza or cook a meal for our residents. $250 average cost. Sponsor social hour Coffee & cookies, games or bingo - just getting out of their apartments is important. Join residents for an hour or send them your favorite game. $25.00 average cost. Sponsor monthly ice cream social Our residents love ice cream, especially in the hot summer months. Drop off your favorite flavors or join them. $50.00 average cost. Sponsor family fun day Once a year we go above & beyond to celebrate our residents & family members. Budget challenges have made this event increasingly difficult to hold. It’s the residents’ FAVORITE day! $4,000 average cost. Sponsor Holiday Dinners Pick a holiday and spoil our residents with a delicious meal. Stay and enjoy the meal with them or drop it off. It’s up to you! $250.00 average cost Sponsor a special event Have an idea and want to spend some quality time with our residents. They would love to have you! Call us with ideas and dates!
